It is an extraordinary privilege and pleasure to invite you to this special 19th Bunkhouse Gallery Exhibition & Sale  - it is a culmination of a 12 year tradition begun by ranch owner Dena Wenmohs, who has fostered the growth of art in the Texas Hill Country by converting her ranch into a gallery, instructional school and boarding facility.

Central Texas was still a wild and untamed place when this Bunkhouse was built in 1890 by the Wenmohs family. The inhabitants were know to hide from the Comanche Indians in the cavity of a large Cypress tree. Today that pioneer spirit is rekindled in the works of Hill Country artists with creations as varied as you will see in any major art center. Last year we had over 400 paintings, clay works and jewelry by 34 artists and this year promises to be even better.

In addition to showcasing exceptional art, the Bunkhouse Galley supports a local charitable organization each year. This year, as last, we are sponsoring CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of the Highland Lakes with raffles, silent auction items and contributions. We were pleased to present a check for over $1000 to this worthy organization last year.

Due to our extraordinary turnout in past years, we have decided to hold the Bunkhouse Exhibition & Sale over two weekends, March 19 & 20 and March 26 & 27, 2011. In addition, The Gallery will be open throughout the week of March 21 - March 25  from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. We invite you and your group to visit our gallery during that week. If you would like to host your club’s meeting in this unique, fun atmosphere, we would be delighted to have you. We can seat around 30 people. You might play bridge in the Art Barn, bring your lunches and have a book club meeting on the front porch of the old Bunkhouse or under the old Oaks, or hold your Bible class in the Meditation room of the converted smokehouse.

In the meantime, club leaders and visitors are welcome to visit the Bunkhouse Gallery any Tuesday to check out the facilities and enjoy watching the Bunkhouse Gang (10-20 artists on any given Tuesday) work. Make reservations early to participate in this unique opportunity.

Please call if you have questions. We would love to hear from you. We look forward to seeing you at the Bunkhouse Gallery Fine Art & Jewelry Exhibition & Sale!
